End of School whirlwind

Seems that there is an activity every day. It started around Mother's Day with craft night and a luncheon at school, and my Garden Club Plant Sale (set up, sale and after party). Then Science Fair and Science Center Field trip. Followed by Poetry Night and Art Fair. Memorial Day looong weekend. Graduation and Party. End of School Picnic, Jesse's school play, dinner parties at our house. Brownie camping, community service project at local pet shelter, and field trip to Science Center. Birthday parties. Bookshare presentation, Ballet recital and Piano recital. Then, summer vacation starts at horse camp and swim lessons . . .

Science Fair project on how Star Sapphires and Cat's eye gems get their names, based on the exhibit we saw at the Smithsonian Institute, on our visit to Auntie Wendy's this spring

A Mother's Day bouquet with special activities for Sara and me, written on each flower in the vase. I only get to pick each flower one time, according to Sara.

Sara's sensory poem that she wrote and recited:

Blue
Independence is blue
It sounds like birds
It smells like water lillies
It tastes like taffy
It looks like the sky
It feels like fleece

For the biography bookshare, Sara selected Napoleon Bonaparte. The students created a 'costume'. On presentation day, the students were seated on desks around the room. All parents and visitors put a penny in their cup and they came to life, reciting interesting facts they had learned about their character.

In solidarity, I selected a biography called "Lucia" which is about a Venetian noblewoman's life during the time of Napoleon, by her descendant, Andrea di Robilant. It was a fascinating history that read like a novel. I liked is so well that I am now reading his first book called "A Venetian Affair" about another one of his ancestors.

On their way to school for Doughnuts with Dad,

Ballet Recital. Sara had two performances and she did very well on both! This is Sara with her instructor.
